Firepow JV Competition Prizes - Will You Be A Winner?

Posted by admin on 14 February 2008

So we’re currently tossing round some ideas for prizes for the Firepow JV competition.

If you think you can make the most sales of Firepow by promoting it through your email list, blog, site, whatever… you’re in for a pretty sweet deal :)

We’re thinking… and I need your feedback on this on… About giving away one of these bad boys…

http://powersports.honda.com/atvs/

As the first prize for the most sales by a JV partner.

Would you be keen for one of these? :)

If not, do you have any ideas for cooler JV prizes that would be a big incentive as well as become a talking point enough to get a bit of extra attention to the launch?

(Aussie slang:) Whaddya reckon?

I think ATVs are for people who live in an environment they don’t worry about spoiling.

Andrew, not a bad product mate ;). I’m excited about what FirePow is all about.

I think it’s a very bad choice. I not only would not want one, I hate them!

ATVs are destructive to the environment, especially in fragile desert environments like the one pictured on the web site.

They disturb (and sometimes injure or kill) wildlife, and they destroy the peace in what should be quiet natural environments. So campers and hikers who have gone to a lot of trouble to get *away* from motorized vehicles have their holidays spoiled.

And the destruction caused by ATVs can linger for years in fragile environments.

I would love it! I live on the coast here in Mexico and it would be a blast! And for the environmentally concerned among us, know that I would save tons of gas using this to get to the market rather than firing up my gigantic 4×4.

  5. Sally commented on February 16, 2008 at 7:39 pm

Bad idea (sorry). Most people will have no use for an ATV. Those vehicles also need to be trailered or put in a good sized pickup truck with a ramp to get to their destination.

Personally, I’d stick with something anyone could use. Electronics including computers comes to mind. Think of things most any Internet marketer could use.

BTW, are the requests you made based on the latest fad of getting prospects to jump through various hoops along the path to the sale? As more marketers climb on that train, it’s becoming really, really annoying. I wish you guys would save it for your other niches because I don’t have time for such pointless nonsense.

First we had to put up with butterfly marketing, now it’s mass control something or other and hoops. Sheesh.

    Hey Guys and Gals,

Yes, good point about something that everyone will use..

And the environmental issues.. glad it got pointed out!

    Sally,

Personally I haven’t read mass control so I’m not sure if what I’m doing is that or not but to be honest there was no tricky marketing gimmick behind my request that you give me your opinion (I wish I was that smart)…

I actually just wanted to know whether it was a good idea or not… But your feedback is helpful, thank you.

Appreciate the opinions guys, keep em coming :)

    Andrew

Great Prize, We have recently brought something similar.
As we are in the outback, it makes it an easy job to take the dogs for a run.
it is perfect for our environment, it can take a reasonable load, great for prospecting and great fun.
It seems fine for the environment, better than tourists that drive in places they shouldn’t : )
I know many people in my environment that would love one.
Great idea, free trips are always handy too : )

    Hey Andrew,

good to see your thinking outside the box, if the the winner has no use for an ATV they can always sell it and donate the money to Greenpeace.

an alternative might be a laptop or pre-paid visa or something.

in a balanced world there can be a place for all of lifes pleasures - man made or nature. There are plenty of places dedicated to riding ATV’s, motorbilkes and the like so I don’t see one side of the argument being more right than the other.

Sally, customer participation and feedback have been a great way to build repore with and interact with your database for hundreds of years, long before Frank Kern was around (Frank Just Found A Way To Market The Technique by Naming It) so if your going to judge everything thing you read against your mass control meter you are going to be very frustrated.

    Cheers
    Andy

The only thing that motivates me when I am promoting affiliate products is cash, cash and more cash!

    Hey Andrew,

This is an interesting way to promote. Have not seen anyone do this before. Good idea.

However, I know some of us know we will be left at the starting line because we may not have the experience and list size as some others. So, I won’t even try.

How about you put everyone in a pool who sells more than 3 units (pick a number)? That would draw more people into the game.

Well looks like a good idea, but where would one use it. I think a useful thing would be a nice prize.

Personal mentor program or free promotion of the winner…anything useful.

    Just my 2 cents.

Just wanted to chime in as a city girl with limited parking as it is! :-) It looks like this appeals more to the boys and people who live in areas with easy access to the great outdoors. I personally like the idea of a new laptop! Since all of us spend a lot of time with out computers this would be great! (And relevant since it looks like we’ll be blogging!)

  13. John commented on February 17, 2008 at 5:22 am

The way gas prices are heading and for anyone that does a lot of mileage, not sure it’s a good idea for some. Just my thoughts.

  14. Nancy commented on February 17, 2008 at 12:52 pm

It would not motivate me as I have no use for it. I like the idea of a laptop. How about letting the winner pick among several options? Say, they could choose between laptop or ATV and/or something else?

  15. Lee commented on February 17, 2008 at 1:26 pm

Brock has the answer - LOOT. Cash/money/moolah is always acceptable, it enables one to purchase the necessary goodies to make life great.

With the money, those that want an ATV can buy one. That follows for anyone who has other desires. . . .

Andrew it all about keeping the customers happy and putiing smiles on people’s faces couldn’t be easier than with a cash hand out

  16. Michael Cobb commented on February 18, 2008 at 12:07 am

    Hey Andrew -

Ha, my first reaction when I saw the ATV was “Heck YEAH!” and personally I would love it and I love Andy’s comment about selling it and donating to greenpeace if you don’t like it. Amy and most of the other contributors are right tho - it probably only appeals to us boys and not quite an appropriate prize for this particular competition.

My suggestion would be the money prize or something related like a laptop etc. or promotion to your list for the winner.

    Cheers,

    Mike.

    Hey Guys,

    Thanks for the great responses.

This has sure got me thinking again about the whole issue.

Seems like straight cash or a laptop might be the way to go…

    Mike,

Good to hear from you dude. You disappeared for a while, I was getting worried :)

Keep the suggestions coming guys, I appreciate em.

  18. Kurt commented on February 18, 2008 at 8:07 am

The ATV is rather controversial. This coming from a 34 year old male living in Alabama, US. ATV and _____ (Insert southern US adjectives here) capital of the world. :) Laptop, cash, and donations are all great ideas. Agreeing with Nancy on choice of prize though…

    Hey Andrew.

    How about a Jaguar XK.
    http://www.jaguar.ca/ca/en/xk/highlights/highlights/introduction.htm
That would save me some dough this year - lol.

  20. Tom From Mexico commented on February 19, 2008 at 7:35 pm

While I would dig the ATV, my laptop died last weekend so I’d go for that. How about a Dell XPS M1330 (Product) Red? Tart it up with an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300, 2 gigs of ram and a 200 gig hard drive and you’ve got a sweet machine.

Plus since it’s (Product) Red, $50 of the sale price goes to the Global Fund, to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. That’s enough for 416 single-dose treatments to help prevent the transmission of HIV from mother to baby.

    Everybody wins!

Hey Andrew What happened to the first contest? Wont anyone be winning a free membership and software in April? I see yo deleted everything about it… What gives Mate?

  22. David Wilkinson commented on April 1, 2008 at 4:14 am

To be honest mate… I’d much prefer a shiny new MacBook Air, specially when I can’t use a damn ATV in the city I live in (laws) and the fact I’m bliddy 14. ;)

Get it sorted dude - it kills the environment too man. BS on you. Shame on you. As Harris Fellman said to me once… “FCK YOU!”

ROFL. Just kidding dude. But seriously. MacBook Air. ;)
