Doing Something Nobody Likes To Do

Posted by admin on 20 April 2008

Today is one of those regrettable days you have in business.

A day when you have to go back on your word, and make a necessarily evil decision that you know will make people who respect you upset.

Don’t worry it’s nothing that serious…

But I do have to announce that contrary to my previous post on the matter - we are moving the Firepow launch back again, this time considerably.

We began the testing phase of the software this past week, and again having underestimated the sheer volume of work that had been done, I realized that it simply wouldn’t be intelligent to put it into the world without the right amount of preparation.

So it’s regrettably that I inform you, the new launch date for Firepow will be the 1st of July - a further 6 weeks to the original launch date.
I can assure you it’s as upsetting to me as it will be to you - perhaps more so.

But at the same time, I can guarantee you that when Firepow is a reality - you’ll forget there ever was a wait - you’ll be too busy making money!

I extend my sincere apologies, and I hope to make it up to you with a more than exemplary product.

Stay tuned for more updates, feature revelations, and plugin news.

Regards,

Andrew

Adsense Released Scrolling Ads - But Was Firepow Doing It First?

Posted by admin on 17 April 2008

It was really interesting for me to see that Adsense recently released “Scrolling Ads”.

To be honest I didn’t even have time to check it out but I assume what it was is dynamic Adsense ads, where the ads are visibly moving on the page and scrolling through a number of ads rather than a static display.

It was really interesting because months earlier I’d created a plugin for Firepow that does very similarly.

This plugin lets you choose an element of your sidebar that is a list, for example your recent posts, or your categories…

It lets them be displayed not statically, but by physically scrolling down your sidebar. So when you look at your sidebar, you see your recent posts rolling through, one after another

What’s so good about this?

Well besides making your site look cooler…

1. It means you can expose your readers to a wider range of your blogs content meaning more chance of something appealing to them and them staying on your site for another post.

and 2. It can help increase the average time a user stays on your site - a factor many believe will become an important determinant of search engine ranking.

It’s hard to show a screenshot of this plugin because it wouldn’t catch the “dynamic-ness” of it - but let me assure you, it’s pretty darn cool :)

Launch is now less than a month away!

Launch Date Pushed Back Again

Posted by admin on 14 April 2008

It turns out Firepow is bigger than even I anticipated!

Even with the extra week I added to the launch I started to become kinda scared about having it all ready by that date - so I decided to take an extra week to make sure everything is shmick and ready.

The new launch date will be May 13th.

This will be the last adjustment of the launch date no matter what happens (short of my servers being obliterated in a tornado) so we’ve got one more month of countdown then it’s on like JOHN!

Trust me, it will be worth the wait :)

WPCamtasia Plugin Reveal

Posted by admin on 13 April 2008

If you ever work with Camtasia and have wordpress blogs you might have come across the issue of it being pretty frickin hard to get camtasia video on to your wordpress blog…

Not anymore!

One of the plugins we developed was one to let you easily insert a camtasia video into a blog post…

Here are some screenshots…

So when you go to write a post you see a little camtasia button in the editor toolbar >>

Camtasia1

Then when you click it, you can select your camtasia video file that you’ve uploaded somewhere (not the html, just the raw video file like an .swf for example…

camtasia 2

Or you can upload a video if you haven’t already…

cam

Then you can change the size of the video inside your post…

cam

Then voila, you have a camtasia video, ready to go - in it’s very own Youtube style flash player…

sdf

And here’s it playing…

How cool is THAT!

It Was Inevitable: FP Launch Has Been Pushed Back

Posted by admin on 07 April 2008

Yep even with the team of - I think at last count 10 individuals that are in the team toward making this Firepow thing a reality - I made the executive decision today that we just wouldn’t be ready in time for April 30th… :(

But don’t worry, we’re only delaying by another 6 days :)

The new release date for Firepow will Tuesday the 6th of May.

I know it’s frustrating buuuut… It means you’ll have a better software when it is ready!

I’ll be posting some more screenshot previews in the next couple of days so get ready!

Firepow - My Personal Excitement

Posted by admin on 01 April 2008

I thought I’d share this today - just so you might get as excited about Firepow as I am right now…

So there’s 30 days til launch right…

About - damn, maybe 8 months ago now - I made a decision.

I decided that I was going to go out on a limb.

I wanted to go out on a limb to create something that would REALLY stand out - a product that while it would take a long time and alot of money to develop - would be better than anything else on the market. I reasoned that by doing that, although it was a big cost, it would be worth it in the end.

So I started looking at the competition - all the wordpress blog enhancing software’s on the market. I decided I wasn’t going to release it unless it was better than all of those.

So I started writing down features, things it would HAVE to have if it was going to be the best. The list was pretty big!

From then until now has been the process of working to make all those features a reality. And the process has been a long and tedious one of back and forth between our amazing team of coders, trying to get it just right.

Now we’re a month out…

To be honest there HAS been launches I’ve been more excited about and the reason is this…

Even with everything you guys will see when Firepow launches, I know thats only the beginning.

We’ve already got features in queue to be added continually for at least the first 6 months of Firepow’s existence.

It’s my hope that Firepow will REALLY change the way people do blogging -  that it will take the whole process and make it easier, and more profitable - and in a NUMBER of ways.

Most importantly Firepow will be YOUR software - the advances we’ll be making will be the things that our members as a group most want and from which they will get the most benefit.

Put simply, we’re creating a MONSTER - and whether you’re one of the first in the door, or the timing isn’t right at launch day, you’re going to keep hearing about this program everywhere you go because it WILL be so far above the rest.

The countdown is on!
